Zrinka Užbinec (they/she) dances and works with choreography, crafting it with various mediums and diverse materials. Zrinka lives and works between Croatia and England, which undoubtedly influences their artistic, economic, and emotional relationships. They often choose to work in collaborations, taking a feminist approach and looking into the emancipatory potentials of the dancing body. Zrinka holds a diploma from the Faculty of Economics, University of Zagreb and an MA in Choreography and Performance from JLU, Gießen, Germany. In 2017, they did an Erasmus at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna, Master in Critical Studies, and in 2020, they spent six months at the Academy Schloss Solitude. Zrinka likes facilitating workshops that challenge dance and choreography as discipline-specific skill sets. They are an assistant professor at the Dance Department of the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, working occasionally, as a guest teacher. Zrinka recently submitted their PhD thesis at C-DaRE (Centre for Dance Research), Coventry University. The thesis, titled Moving Between Cuteness and Violence: A Choreographic Investigation, explores the metastability of choreography that happens in the conjunction of cuteness and violence.
