The content of imploded goo acts as an extension and a possible articulation of the process of making the performance “Exploded Goo”, a performance made as the final work for Master in Choreography and Performance, Giessen. “Exploded Goo” is a choreography that tries to compose a monstrous dance, in real-time. A starting point for the research predated the process of making the performance; it was an exploration of a chimeric and montage-like perception of the dancing body. It found its inspiration in cut-outs of photomontages and the idea of glitch. In the rehearsal process, it followed a personal wish to challenge a normative and linear perception of a dancer’s body on stage – by reclaiming a monstrous one, a collection of many, a body in-between. The implosion of the goo, i.e. imploded goo, follows the non-linear time before making the performance. Then, the mutation of the research ideas in the time of rehearsing, and finally the attempt towards the clarification of the choreographic position taken in the performance “Exploded Goo”.
